Jeju Island, also known as Cheju Island, is located off of the southern coast of mainland South Korea. It is an absolutely stunning natural environment complete with gorgeous white-sand beaches, impressive lava estuaries, and high-reaching mountain peaks. Jeju Island tours are extremely popular with international tourists traveling to South Korea, while the island itself remains one of the most frequented honeymoon destinations for both Korean and Japanese newlyweds.

Some of the best things to do on Jeju island are the same as in other similar tropical climates like Hawaii, namely taking in sun on the beach and relaxing in the nearly perfect climate. It does rain a lot during the late summer months, but these are usually just spotty storms followed by a clearing and more ideal weather. Many people enjoy a variety of water sports on the island, but just as many spend their time walking the Jeju Island beaches, taking in spectacular sunsets, and simply laying out in the sun.

There are a number of alluring attractions on the island including the highest peak on Jeju, Halla-san, and Manjang Cave, a National Monument as designated by the South Korean government, and the longest lava cave in the world. Manjang Cave is nearly five miles long and provides some of the most stunning views in the entirety of South Korea. It was created by lava ripping through the bedrock of the island. Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes are officially designated as a Natural World Heritage Site. You can access Manjang Cave from three different entrances and tour the amazing and enigmatic caves during your vacation on Jeju Island. The temperatures remain relatively temperate throughout the year and the caves are home to some rare species of animals (none of which you need to worry about harming you). It only takes about 45 minutes by bus to get to Manjang Cave from the Jeju Bus Terminal. Several of the main attractions in this series of caves are a large lava pillar and a massive lava mass that resembles a giant and ancient sea turtle.

You can enjoy this island paradise by choosing from a whole range of exciting Jeju Island tours. Many people rent bikes and explore the island at a relaxed pace. There are a number of wide bike paths that allow you to criss-cross the island and see as much of it as you want at your leisure. There are eco-tours that take participants up into the best hiking trails in Halla-san, as well as guided tours of traditional South Korean village life. You will witness the preparation of food, craft making, and much more. Other popular Jeju Island tours take tourists to the ancient lava estuaries, which are designated by UNESCO as an official Biosphere Reserve. Besides the interesting lava formations, the black sand on the beaches make a trip to the ancient estuaries memorable indeed.

Whether you are interested in taking tours or just relaxing, you will have an amazing time on Jeju Island. Ferries run everyday to Seoul, Busan, and several other ports in South Korea and Japan. You can also rent cars or take buses. The main bus that makes numerous stops at the most popular points of interest is the #100 bus.
