Countach!

Countach is an exclamation in a Northern Italian dialect which expresses admiration and surprise. And this is how the famous designer Bertone would have welcomed the Lamborghini he designed when he saw it on the road for the first time. The prototype that would become a legend had just found its name. The Italian passion for the automobile, in which they combine, as in everything, all of their design skills, their taste and their ingenuity, is well-known. They take as much care over the design of their pasta as they do their bodywork, creating cars with lines as elegant as the clothes they wear, and savouring driving like they would a plate of spaghetti. The province of Milan, which produced Ettore Buggati and is home to the Monza race track, helps to carry on this passion. Many engineers, designers and parts manufacturers are based here and have furthered the love affair with the automobile, particularly the Lucas Carello factory based in the commune of Cinisello Balsamo, which manufactured car headlights and has just been converted into a superb 4-star hotel: the Best Western Premier Monza e Brianza Palace.

The hotel has uncompromisingly retained its industrial architecture but never loses the right to call itself a "Palace". The dimensions and lines, designed to be functional and ergonomic, bring a unique atmosphere to this bright and spacious building. The result is solidly built public spaces, punctuated by large picture windows, spectacularly high ceilings and lines allowing long open views. The ash brown ("cenere" in Italian) of the facade is typical of the landscape of the region and is the origin of the name Cinisello. The hotel is also blessed with a certain elegance that captivates its guests, perhaps because it has retained the simplicity of the land on which it stands. Outside, as well as inside, materials such as the brushed metal, the wood, and the varnished concrete carry on, through their unique design, the industrial purpose of the building. The materials were specifically chosen to optimise thermal insulation. In the same way, the sound insulation was specially reinforced to improve comfort. The guestrooms are also large spaces where the brown colour scheme adds to the comfort. From the wooden flooring and the natural light from the large picture windows, creating a sense of space, to the ample armchairs and the complete soundproofing, the rooms create an extremely pleasant impression of health and well-being.

Despite its industrial origins reflected in the simple design, the Best Western Premier Monza e Brianza Palace never abandons its Italian Art de Vivre. After all, Milan and its fashion boutiques are close by, as are Lake Como and the mountains of Lecco, which cut into the horizon. Casignolo, the hotel restaurant run by the Chef Marco Rossoni, pays tribute to the cuisine and flavours of Lombardy. It takes its name simply from the former name for thisregion, which was home to a vast farm typical of ancient rural Italy in that it centred around a central square with families working in the fields as part of a real community. And finally, for its guests' complete well-being, the hotel provides a gym, jacuzzi and spa, all brilliantly designed and a pleasure to use.

Travellers visiting the Best Western Premier Monza e Brianza Palace very rarely master Italian dialects. Yet, having probably dreamt of this car so emblematic of Italian passion, they know the name "Countach" which is so appropriate for this beautiful hotel: Countach!
