Truly remarkable, from cellar to rooftop...

Deconstructivism is an architectural trend embodied by the Best Western Premier Park Consul of Stuttgart. This radical choice of design is made even more singular by the fact that the hotel nestles in the heart of the ancient medieval town of Esslingen in the Neckar Valley, one of Germany's most classical regions. The hotel's design is depicted by voluntarily broken or slanted lines and by volumes generally considered to be quite unreasonable. The architect sought to highlight the contrast between structure and shell, ceiling and walls, light and stone. The result is a particularly spectacular and clever impression of disorder, leaving the visitor with an acute sense of comfort and light.

To fully appreciate the extent to which the Best Western Premier Park Consul represents a highly stimulating break with tradition, one should remember that Stuttgart is the town of Daimler, Porsche and Bosch and also the region where Hegel, Einstein, Schiller, Hölderlin and Heidegger were born. Imagine Esslingen, with its 13th century town walls, vineyards, twin-towered Church of Saint Dionis, Church of Our Lady, medieval fort and ancient town hall. All these perfectly preserved vestiges take the town back over 1200 years of history. What's more they are all visible from the stunning terrace of the Best Western Premier Park Consul, where guests can admire the 360° view whilst lunching or dining.

Despite its architectural daring, the hotel far from disowns its land or culture. It pays tribute to its great men and boasts the most extensive cellar of Neckar wines. These wines, whose delicacy is equalled by their lack of renown (particularly the Rieslings), grow on the sunny southern slopes on the banks of the Neckar in a very mild climate. They are served with one of Europe's most outstanding cuisines, illustrated by the many Michelin stars awarded to establishments in the region. Wurtemburg is a genuine historic and geographic crossroads, whose chefs, also favoured by very rich local produce, have constantly excelled over the centuries. The hotel restaurant is fully at one with these culinary traditions, as its spätzle and Black Forest specialities illustrate.

When a hotel opts for a standpoint as symbolic as deconstructivism in its architectural layout, all the more so in a region so rich in tradition, it cannot do otherwise than provide service that is other than "constructive" or impeccable. The Best Western Premier Park Consul however goes one step further. The hotel lobby for example is a genuine cathedral of natural light, rising up over seven stories. Eminently well thought out, it provides access to the guestrooms, restaurants and neighbouring conference centre. The sumptuously wide spacious corridors embody the hotel's overall design. The exemplary rooms all feature flawless fixtures and fittings and command extensive views of the surrounding hillsides. The wellness centre is equally well designed and fitted out.

Firmly anchored to the land by its fantastic wine cellar and restaurant, and with its head in the town's skyline and its medieval vineyards by its rooftop patio, the Best Western Premier Park Consul pays a superb tribute to the distinctive character of this region and its mild climate. A truly consummate blend of daring design and tradition.
